Endowed Professorships
The Center will need to spend $2 - $3 million to recruit, equip, and provide initial laboratory support for each new Faculty scientist. A gift of $2.5 million entitles the donor to name the position in perpetuity (“Endowed Professorship”).
Support of Student Education Programs
The Center has always received talented students with funding from URAP, Biology Scholars Program, and other fellowships on campus. The Center actively seeks gifts and corporate sponsorships to expand the number of students enrolled, as well as to extend its science education programs to other universities abroad to increase awareness and education on aging globally in countries with large aging population.
Paola S. Timiras Award Funds
The Paola S. Timiras award for aging research was established to honor those that have made an important contribution to better understanding of the aging process. The award also honors those that increase the awareness and importance of aging research. Dr. Timiras was both a researcher and an advocate for aging research.She published over 200 research articles and she was also a tireless advocate of public education. The Center seeks gifts of $1000-$5000 for the Paola S. Timiras Award Funds.
